South Burlington Designated City Center Area

City Hall Government Building Design Study:

Building Design Workshop 00/00/00 and 00/00/00

Building Design

Ideas and concepts as well as design elements emerged from the community identity, programmatic, and urban design explorations conducted by the Technical Advisory Committee.  These ideas concepts and elements shaped proposals for the site selection, conceptual site plan, building footprint plan and renderings suggesting building size, appearance and its relationship to the city center.

The proposed site organization and relationships represent an attempt to link the city center with the existing city, to create a focal civic space with the City Hall building within it, and to connect the center of South Burlington with the surrounding Vermont landscape.  The proposed building design attempts to express the contemporary suburban character and identity of the city, establish an information technology hub, and create a cultural center for the City of South Burlington.
